Product Description

Scotch 2228 is a thick, self-fusing rubber insulating/sealing tape: an ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) backing coated with a temperature-stable mastic adhesive on a release liner, 65 mil/1.65 mm thick, black. When stretched and half-lapped it fuses into a seamless mass for primary insulation, moisture/water sealing, UV resistance and padding over irregular shapes. It is used on copper/aluminum joints and motor leads up to 1000 V primary insulation, and bus-bar primary insulation up to 35 kV; conductor continuous 90°C, UL-recognized component/emergency overload to 130°C, indoor and weather-exposed outdoor.
