3M VHB 4930 is a white double-coated acrylic foam tape in the 4950 family, nominal 0.6mm/0.025in (some SKUs list 0.64mm; follow the specific TDS), with a firm closed-cell acrylic foam core, general-purpose acrylic PSA on both sides and a printed paper liner. It uses full-surface bonding to replace rivets, spot welds, screws and liquid adhesives on aluminum, stainless/galvanized steel, glass, acrylic, PC, ABS, composites, painted/sealed wood and concrete, while providing water/moisture sealing plus vibration/impact damping. Typical for transportation, appliances, electronics, construction, signage and general industry—stiffeners, panel frames, nameplates, displays, wiring ducts/conduit.

Structure

Features

• White 0.6mm firm closed-cell acrylic: more gap/stress relief than tissue/film double-coat, more weatherable/structural than PU/PE foam, more opaque-base than 4910 clear, thinner than 4950.
• Two-side general acrylic with VHB viscoelasticity: SS 90° peel 35N/cm, aluminum normal tensile 1100kPa, overlap shear 690kPa; replaces rivets/welds/screws; better long heat/UV than rubber double-coat, no mix/cure vs liquid adhesive.
• Monolithic closed-cell water seal: continuous water/moisture barrier for stiffeners/panels/ducts; no water intake vs open-cell foam, more permanent than duct/PE temporary.
• Surface bonding spreads stress + dampens: firm core distributes load and absorbs impact/NVH; dissimilar metal/plastic/glass without point fasteners, no drill stress or weld distortion.
• Printed paper liner, easy slit/die-cut: 0.08mm paper liner, 6.4mm to 1219mm, custom shapes; better for conversion than red-PE VHB and linerless foam.
• Wide temp and weathering: 149°C short/4h, 93°C long; static shear 1500g RT/500g 66°C/500g 93°C for 10,000min; indoor/outdoor UV/moisture vs office/household double-coat.
• HSE-general, light-color low-profile: aluminum/SS/galvanized/glass/acrylic/PC/ABS/painted/sealed wood/concrete direct; white line less visible on light panels than gray/black VHB, more opaque than clear.
• Process saving: no drill/grind/filler/weld cleanup; PSA immediate handling strength, full strength ~72h; cleaner than mechanical and liquid bonding.

Applications

• Stiffener-to-panel bonding: metal enclosures, equipment shells, elevator/transit inner panels and stiffeners instead of spot weld/rivets with even stress.
• Metal/glass HSE parts: aluminum/SS nameplate backs, glass-partition fittings, galvanized/painted panels; closed-cell waterproof UV-resistant.
• Nameplates/logos/signage: metal letters, acrylic/PC signs, appliance/instrument nameplates; white bond less visible on light panels.
• Electronic display/frame: LCD lens, control-box windows, painted control panels, electronic housing trims.
• Appliance trim/structure: fridge/AC/washer panels, decorative strips, control frames, interior light structural parts without drilling/welding.
• Architectural/interior: aluminum-composite stiffeners, ceiling metal parts, painted door/window trims, glass-aluminum light attachments (not large movement joints).
