Product Description

3M 4032 is a thin double-coated open-cell polyurethane foam tape, nominal 0.8mm/31mil, coated both sides with 3M™ Adhesive 100 high-temperature, high-shear acrylic PSA and protected by a green-plaid densified kraft liner. It is for interior or environmentally-protected exterior mounting, joining and holding—filling minor gaps, conforming to slightly irregular surfaces, damping vibration and replacing screws/rivets/spot-welds for non-structural bonds. Typical targets are interior signs/nameplates, soap dispensers, air fresheners, wire clips, electrical channels, acoustic panels, corner protectors, small mirrors and instrument parts. Long-term 104℃, short-term 193℃, cold-flex -30℃ without cracking; open-cell foam is not waterproof and not meant for exposed outdoor rain/long UV.

Structure

Features

• 0.8mm open-cell PU thin foam: fills minor gaps and conforms to slight irregularities; more cushion than tissue double-coat (e.g., 9448A), more space-saving than thick PU (4016/4026/4008), more gap-fill than PET film tape.
• Double-side Adhesive 100 high-shear acrylic: strong on metal/HSE plastics, static shear 2000g on aluminum at 23°C; long 104°C, short 193°C—better than general rubber foam and paper double-coat.
• Green-plaid kraft liner, die-cut friendly: 0.08mm robust liner resists edge roll and humidity at edges; better for automatic dispensing/slitting than linerless foam and plain film tape.
• Vibration damping + stress distribution: open-cell PU 90% elongation, 1655kPa break; for acoustic panels/instruments/small appliances to absorb vibration and average bond stress; less point-failure than rigid double-coat.
• Interior mounting replacement for fasteners: nameplates/soap/air-freshener/wire clips without drilling; smoother face than screws/rivets, faster than liquid adhesive, two-side versus single foam.
• Cold-flex -30°C, wide thermal range: cold-store/return-line adjacent parts hold; short high-heat reflow/oven accessories evaluated to 193°C briefly; better than vinyl/hot-melt double-coat.
• Solvent/short-UV stable: no apparent damage in most hydrocarbon splash and 7-day UV chamber; natural foam may light-yellow under sun but performance unaffected—protected exterior OK, exposed rain no.
• Light non-structural positioning: gap/hold/damping only; not a VHB closed-cell structural substitute, not mechanical load; clearer spec boundary and lower cost than thick foam/VHB.

• Interior signs/nameplates: acrylic/metal/plastic directional signs, equipment nameplates, office floor markers and retail wayfinding small boards on walls or machines.
• Washroom/public accessories: soap dispensers, air fresheners, tissue boxes, small mirrors and hotel-room accessories without drilling.
• Wire clips/channels: electrical wire clips, network trunking, automotive/equipment interior clip mounting on metal/plastic/painted surfaces; foam cushions, no holes.
• Acoustic/absorption panels: perforated acoustic panels, sound-deadening backing boards, meeting/recording room small panels; foam takes minor unevenness and reduces vibration.
• Instrument/appliance small parts: controller sub-modules, sensor housings, appliance internal dampers, monitor small brackets, switch-box accessories.
• Corner/edge protectors: interior corner guards, display edge strips, teaching/shelf light protectors; 0.8mm thin, low profile.
• Automotive/transit interior: cabin badges, trim clips, wire clips, small acoustic pieces non-structural; not exterior rain-exposed, not crash-structure.
• Display/retail/light manufacturing: exhibit attachments, POP small signs, frame backing, shelf accessories, die-cut squares for automatic application.
