Product Description

3M Performance Flatback Tape 2525 is a single-coated industrial flatback tape: orange smooth flat-stock paper backing with a natural-rubber PSA, linerless. It is built for jobs needing high adhesion, high backing strength and high temperature at once—high-temp splicing, core start/roll closure, straight-line paint masking, bundling/handing of metal/automotive/electronics/furniture/wood parts, edging and binding. The smooth paper is low-stretch, hand-tearable and machine-dispensable; rubber adhesive gives strong initial tack; it withstands 149℃/300℉ for 1 hour and moist conditions. Orange color aids visibility and sensing. 3M positions it indoor/industrial; not recommended for outdoor or prolonged sunlight due to difficult removal.

Applications

• High-temp splicing: paper/print/coating/converting roll-change splices; flat low-stretch, no wrinkle, holds through 149℃/1h dryer zones.
• Core start and roll closure: parent-roll start, finished-roll closure, paper/film/foil core tabbing; hand or machine.
• Straight-line industrial paint masking: metal, automotive, electronic enclosures, furniture/wood parts for indoor spray and bake; long straight line, assess residue by substrate.
• Metal/heavy-part bundling: pipes, profiles, steel smalls, machined parts tied for transfer; thicker paper resists break better than thin masking.
• Edging and binding: board, samples, insulation, gaskets, leather/wood edge lock with wear-resistant orange flatback.
• High-visibility tab/sensing: automatic splice points, position marks, rework flags, line-side material tabs; orange easy for operators and photoelectric sensing.
• Electronics/automotive holding: light wire bundles, prototype parts, fixtures, temporary hinge/corner hold; retain through short indoor bake.
• General industrial packaging: cartons, cores, in-plant parts in humid stores or bake-back lines; replaces hot-melt and thin kraft.
